It’s victory for the NDP in Essex.
33-year-old Taras Natyshak is the new MPP.
“I’m overjoyed, I’m so proud of this team, I’m so proud of our campaign. It was positive, it was respectful and I think it touched on a lot of issues that people are concerned about,” said Natyshak during his victory speech.
This was his fourth attempt running for political office.
PC candidate Dave Brister came in second.
“We’ve made a tremendous stride here and I couldn’t of got as far as I did without each and every one of you,” said Brister in a speech to his supporters.
Brister is a former Windsor councillor.
The riding was previously held by the late Liberal MPP Bruce Crozier since 1995.
