ESPN Reporter Savagely Berates “Commoner” for Doing Her Job

An ESPN TV reporter, Britt McHenry, was caught berating an employee at a towing company after her car was impounded. And she was nasty. This is like a scene out of Mean Girls.

You may not know who McHenry is, but when you have the privilege of being an on-screen sports reporter on the largest sports network in the US, you should know better.

In the security video that went viral yesterday, she can be seen and heard in the video telling the worker, “I’m in the news sweetheart, I will ****ing sue this place!” The 28-year-old also criticized the woman’s appearance telling her “lose some weight, baby girl,” and asking, “Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh? Cause they look so stunning … Cause I’m on television and you’re in a ****ing trailer, honey.”

ESPN  says it has suspended the reporter for a week. Should it be longer?

*UPDATE: On Thursday, she issued an apology via her Twitter account: “In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.”

***WARNING: Don’t watch the video at work or if you’re offended by lots of curse words”***
