Chris Young celebrated his career 11th Number One hit, “Hangin’ On,” with a party in Nashville at songwriting organization BMI on Monday, April 29th. While Chris has certainly had his share of chart-topping celebrations, he tells us the importance of celebrating each chart-topper really struck him during a recent conversation with another artist.

“I’m talking to another artist about, ‘We’ve gotta do this Monday cause it’s the only time that all of us can get together,’ like it is not a huge, huge deal and that people don’t dream of getting up one day and writing a song that goes Number One, and so that’s why these are always so important. No matter what form they take, when they are, it’s something so special for all that stuff to come together at once and you to have a Number One. I say it a lot, I had a 37, a 52, and a 37 at the start of my career so Number One feels really, really good and we should celebrate it.”

Chris was joined by his co-writers Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge, who together have written now four Number One hits. In fact, after writing their first hit, “I’m Comin’ Over,” the three made a deal that they would all get tattoos if the song climbed to Number One. Josh and Chris said that Chris didn’t hold up his end of the bargain.

“We made a pact that every Number One . . . (Chris) I don’t have a tattoo. (Josh) He doesn’t, and so I said, ‘If “I’m Comin’ Over” goes Number One, let’s all get a tattoo.’ ‘Cool.’ Well here we are four later and Chris is still bare-skinned. (Chris) But no I don’t have one yet.”
