Trace Adkins finally got to meet his college crush some 30 years after the fact. The singer came face-to-face with Kim Mulkey, who is now the Baylor women’s basketball coach, when he sang the national anthem at last weekend’s matchup between Baylor and Texas A&M.

Trace admired Kim from afar, and actually never had a conversation with her until this past weekend. He told the Washington Post, “She had long braided pigtails and she was phenomenal. All the jocks ate at the training table and that’s where I would see her, but she was a rock star and I couldn’t talk to her.”

In a strange twist of fate, Trace shared his story about his silent admiration for this woman with the audience during a show last year. It just so happened that Kim’s sister was in the crowd that night, who quickly shared the story with Kim.
