Old Dominion On Working With Kenny Chesney

The group Old Dominion is climbing the charts with their own hit, “Break Up With Him,” but members Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi have another hit song to celebrate. The two co-wrote labelmate Kenny Chesney’s current Number One hit, “Save It For A Rainy Day.”

Matthew, Brad and co-writer Andrew Dorff changed the song just a bit after getting some personal input from Kenny.

“I get a call telling me that I’m going to get a call from Kenny about it because there were some things that he wanted to tweak, lyrically, to make it more his. So, I had a couple phone conversations with Kenny and then a couple phone conversations with Brad and Andrew to where we kinda whittled it down to somethin’ that he felt like he wanted to sing, which is amazing, ’cause I think a lot of artists would just be like, ‘It’s not quite what I want; I’m gonna pass.’ And he said, ‘It’s not quite what I want; I want to fix it so that it is.’ And he did, and I’m really glad.”

Old Dominion spent the summer out on Kenny’s The Big Revival tour, where they were invited to join the superstar in singing “Save It For A Rainy Day.”

Old Dominion’s debut album, Meat and Candy, will be released on November 6th.
