Blake Shelton is prepared to be the butt of at least a few jokes at next week’s CMA Awards. The singer told NBC’s Late Night show host Seth Meyers that his recent divorce from Miranda Lambert is perfect fodder for CMA Awards hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

“This year is going to be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes because we (Country music), are such a family. Everybody there is friends, you know? (Seth) Yeah, but no one would . . . There’s not gonna be a joke . . . (Blake) Oh, there’s gotta be one about me and Miranda. Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go, ‘Haha!’ I mean, he’s gotta do it. (Seth) So you then are ready for it? (Blake) You have to address the elephant in the room.”

Blake is up for Male Vocalist of the Year at the CMA Awards in Nashville, which will be held on Wednesday November 4th. The show will air live on ABC beginning at 8pm.

The Voice star recently released Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits, featuring his current hit single, “Gonna.”
