Zac Bown on Creative Control

The Zac Brown Band has always been very hands on, keeping and overseeing everything in-house including music, film, and merchandise, to name a few. Zac Brown says that’s essential to maintaining high standards and delivering high quality.

“We don’t outsource a lot. We don’t outsource hardly any of it, so . . . When you outsource to it you’re in line with a bunch of other customers that are waiting to get something done by somebody else whereas if we bring it in house we’ve curated the talent that’s there to help us do it and we’re the ones accountable for it. It’s not the easy way to do it but it’s the best way to do it when you want to deliver the absolute best product and the best service and hospitality that you can, and we’ve just got an army of people that really genuinely love what they do and we all love each other and we work our butts off and that’s the difference. Some people don’t want to handle all that and don’t want to deal with it but if you want to make it count you’ve got to do it right and you’ve got to have the right people to do it, and that’s what we got. I’m really proud of what everybody’s done to pull together to build Southern Ground and to build Zac Brown Band and the touring business . . . everything that’s around it.”

Zac Brown Band is on the west coast this weekend playing Thursday, October 8th in Phoenix followed by two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th.
