Midland Talks Fashion

In addition to their throwback sound, Texas trio Midland has a penchant for dressing a little like their early country influences. Although naysayers have suggested the group’s style is a gimmick, lead singer Mark Wystrach says that’s definitely not the case.

“It’s just about being who you are. I think the way you dress yourself is just an expression of who you are, and it’s the same with our music. We write what we know and we play what we love and it’s the same thing with . . . we dress how we want to dress. It just makes us feel good. It’s not a put-on. Honestly, most of it is just because we’re so broke that we can’t afford to buy like new clothes so we buy a lot of vintage clothes. That’s the truth. That’s the honest truth. That’s the real scoop.”

Midland will join Tim McGraw and Faith Hill at the end of the month for Canadian dates on their Soul2Soul World tour. They’ll spend the summer at select fairs and festivals before joining Kenny Chesney for shows in August.

Members Mark Wystrach and Cameron Duddy admit they wax their mustaches, and Mark carries a mustache comb.
