Keith Urban has the chance to take home several trophies at the CMA Awards, including Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Single and Music Video of the Year for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” “Blue” is also nominated for Song of the Year, which would go to songwriters Clint Lagerberg, Hillary Lindsey and Steven Lee Olsen.

“I just know when I heard ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ for the first time, it just struck me as one of those rare songs that encompass so many things in it. I couldn’t even label what it was, what style it was. It’s got a bit of soul, it’s got a bit of blues, it’s got a bit of country, it’s got just a big mix of all good things. Lyrically, it’s just an incredible song, incredible song. (It’s got) great melody, great lyric. I was so hoping I could do the song justice when we got in the studio.”

Keith is scheduled to perform during the 51st Annual CMA Awards, and he just teased a song on Instagram that is seems he will debut on the CMAs:

Meanwhile, Luke Combs makes his his first CMA Awards appearance as a nominee in the New Artist of the Year category. The singer will be flanked by two very special guests — his parents.

“First CMA’s, yeah, man. Going as a nominee is super cool man you don’t really expect that to happen, I don’t think I think that’s not a normal thing but I’m stoked man I’m stoked to see what happens I’m stoked to have my parents there and have them kind of see the whole magic of the show and the red carpet and everything so I asked them if they wanted to go and obviously they were ecstatic to get to go with me and watch that stuff so it should be fun man I’m hoping that they can kind of take it in so they’ll be in town for a few days and that should be exciting to kind of have them there and you know hopefully they enjoy it.”

Luke is competing against Lauren Alaina, Jon Pardi, Brett Young and Old Dominion in the New Artist of the Year category. The 51st annual CMA Awards will air live from the Bridgestone Arena on ABC beginning at 8 pm.
