Thomas Rhett’s new album, Life Changes, arrives in stores today, Friday, September 8th. He will celebrate the release with a series of acoustic performances in three special cities — Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia — all in one day. Thomas says the idea goes back to a segment of his show called Live From The B-Stage.

“On the Home Team tour we have this alternate stage out in the crowd that we go do 20 or 30 minutes of songs that we haven’t played in forever whether it’s songs off the first record or new songs or songs that I’ve written for other people, and so that’s always my favorite moment of the set so we kind of wanted to re-live that in three different cities that I felt like kind of gave me my first chance as an artist. One of my biggest shows I ever played before I even had any hits was in Boston at the House of Blues, and then going to Chicago, Joe’s Bar was the first bar to ever really give me a chance to come play acoustic for basically 10 people, and then going into Philadelphia getting to play in Philadelphia early on really helped, I felt like, boost my career and so getting to play in those markets that I felt really built me, getting to play for those fans that have been with me since day one and getting to play new songs off the record that no one’s really heard and getting to play acoustic and letting the crowd ask me any question they want to ask and really just trying to make that day all about the music and doing it in three different cities.”

Thomas’ busy release weekend also includes a stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday, September 10th where he will serve as a judge at the Miss America pageant. The singer is unsure as to how he got the enviable gig, but he says that he’s pretty excited about it.

“I don’t know. Thank you to my management, I guess. I don’t really know. That’s gonna be interesting. I got to watch . . . I think Cole Swindell did it last year and then Brett Eldredge has done it before so (I’m) following in good footsteps and hopefully I can just read the questions very good. I don’t know how much judging is actually involved but I get to read some questions and get to evaluate the answers.”

Thomas is shooting up the charts with the second single from Life Changes, “Unforgettable.”
