Charles Kelley On Solo Single
Charles Kelley has introduced himself to the world as a solo act with the new single, “The Driver.” He co-wrote the song, which features his friends Eric Paslay and Dierks Bentley, and Charles says the irony of the situation is not lost on him.
“You know, I’ve cut six songs for this project and, you know, the one big collaboration on the thing is a trio (laughs) and it’s like, ‘I’m going out on my own. Oh, but here’s our first single — a trio,’ which is so ironic, but, you know, I wrote it with Eric Paslay, who I’m just a huge fan of, and a guy named Abe Stoklasa, and that song was pretty much the motivation of wanting to do this project. Just to me it always felt like it was a three male perspective for some reason. I wanted to almost channel a little bit of that Crosby, Stills & Nash stuff that I grew up loving.”
Charles will support his solo endeavor with a 22-city club tour beginning on November 28th at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. The tour will feature special guest Maren Morris. Tickets are currently on sale online at charleskelley.com.
