Miranda Lambert Leads CMT Nominees

Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne, Jason Aldean, Maren Morris, and Zac Brown Band are the top nominees with three nods each at next month’s CMT Music Awards, hosted by Little Big Town. Carly Pearce read the nominations live on NBC’s Today show on Tuesday, May 7th, and the awards will be handed out live on Wednesday, June 5th at 8 pm on CMT. Winners are selected by the fans, with voting open now at vote.cmt.com. Fan voting ends at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, June 4th.

This year, 14 acts are in the running for the Video of the Year award, including Carrie Underwood, who reigns as the most-awarded artist in CMT Music Awards history with 18 wins. The top five Video of the Year nominees will be announced the morning of the show, and fans will be able to vote all day and throughout the show on Twitter to determine the winner.

Luke Bryan has taken home his fair share of CMT Music Awards over the years, and he might take home another this year in the Male Video category for “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset.” He said that beyond that, he looks forward to a fun night at this particular Nashville awards shows.

“The CMT Awards, there’s tons of comedy throughout the whole show. It’s a big laugh, big party. It’s when all the fans are here for CMA Music Fest, and there’s just a big energy in the whole city, and CMT does a great job at creating a big, fun time. They’ve always done such a good job at making it just a big party.”

Chris Janson is up for Video of the Year for “Drunk Girl.” He said,

“Thank you CMT for recognizing such a special song and video. The song continues to make an impact on my career, and I’m so grateful to be nominated for such a prestigious award.” Chris took home the Video of the Year award for “Drunk Girl” at last month’s ACM Awards.
