Dolly Parton was asked about several things in a new interview with “Billboard”.

They asked her about the Black Lives Matter movement, and she leaned in.

“I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen. And of course black lives matter. Do we think our little white behinds are the only ones that matter? No!”

It was a couple of years ago when Dollywood changed the Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction to Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

Here’s why she made that call.

“There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that. When they said ‘Dixie’ was an offensive word, I thought, ‘Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede.’ As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it.”

And if you think that was a good business move, wait till you hear this.

Back in the 1970s, Elvis wanted to do a cover of a little song she wrote called “I Will Always Love You”.

He insisted on splitting the publishing rights. So Elvis would’ve owned one-half of the song that Whitney Houston turned into a global hit some 20 years later.

Dolly said, quote, “That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do because I loved Elvis.”
