Chris Stapleton Tackles Pandemic By Mountain Biking
Chris Stapleton was recently promoting his upcoming album “Starting Over” and he was asked if he has any doubts about releasing it in the middle of a pandemic.
He said everybody has doubts these days about everything, and if they tell you they haven’t reached a breaking point, they’re lying.
He’s been coping with it all by riding his mountain bike in the woods.
“It’s helped tremendously in a ‘centering’ kind of way.”
One of the songs is called, “Watch You Burn” and he wrote it after the Route 91 shooting.
It opens with the lyrics, “Only a coward would pick up a gun, and shoot up a crowd trying to have fun.”
He talked about the Black Lives Matter movement, and how it’s turned his reality upside down.
“You know, I thought we were living in a different country. And that’s 100% real. I feel like the country that I thought that we were living in was a myth. Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely. I don’t know how you could think they don’t. We all have a lot of work to do, as individuals and as a society. And if you don’t think that, I think you’re not looking.”
