Jimmie Allen was invited to perform at the Billboard Music Awards, which is huge exposure, but he said no.

He was already booked at a charity, and he wanted to keep his word.

“I have this firm belief that when you make a commitment to do something, show up. I agreed to do a charity event for a car dealership in New Jersey that day. [It] was probably one of the best decisions that I’ve made because I got to see the organization that benefited, and all the people that were there.”

Jimmie believes that decision helped him land the coveted opening slot on Carrie Underwood’s Denim & Rhinestones Tour.

“The same day I passed on the Billboard opportunity and agreed to do the charity show, the Carrie offer came in. I tell people, ‘Always try to do the right thing.’ My decision was made before [Carrie], but it’s great how life can reward you for doing the right thing.”
