[WATCH] Lighting Strikes ⚡ A Flying Golf Ball 🏌️
18 year old Tomas Gomez wanted “to hit one last shot, then leave” when weather began to take a turn at Topgolf in San Antonio, Texas.
Topgolf is a place in the States that is so awesome, we need one of these here in Windsor or Essex County.
It’s a giant complex with dozens of climate-controlled hitting bays that look out into a massive golf green. There’s bars and TVs everywhere too.
So your half inside and technically and half outside.
So Tomas took his swing and as the ball was flying into the air, it got struck by lightning!
Its like the golf version of “Back to the Future”! That bolt of lightning hits the Delorean time machine at 88 mph or 142 km – which was the exact speed this ball was travelling.
“Points? Where we’re going we don’t need points,” Topgolf wrote in a comment on the video.
It could have been way worse. Tomas was holding essentially a lightning rod in a golf club in his follow-through swing.
For those wondering if the ball survived the hit, there’s a follow up video of what the ball looks like now and its completely black.
