It is a miracle no one died in Barrie yesterday.
The city of Barrie will turn its attention to clean-up today after a tornado tore through a neighborhood, damaging homes and injuring several people.
Paramedics have said eight people were taken to hospital, and several others were treated for minor injuries.
Roughly 20 homes are considered uninhabitable, with some completely destroyed.
The video are incredible. Here’s one from a guy who was working in some sort of building, he films this in a stairwell, watch him walk up to a door that had flung open.
The video that made our hair stand on end is from a woman who takes a video the moment she comes up from her basement to survey the damage.
Mayor Jeff Lehman says the community has already started coming together to support those who lost the most to the tornado, donating food and supplies.
Its a familiar scene to many long-time Barrie residents. A tornado killed eight people and injured more than a hundred others in the city in 1985. Hundreds of homes in the Allendale neighborhood were destroyed.
