Mornings

‘Twas night before crossing, when all through the town,

Canadians were happy, there were no longer frowns.

All the Passports were placed by the front door with care, with hopes to return without having to declare.

The adults were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of Mexican town and Target danced in their heads.

Now Somerset! Now Nemos! Now Dunkin and chilis.

On Olive, On garden, on Comerica on Tubby’s.

They drove through the tunnel to avoid the bridge clatter,

their wallets had bills,  which made them more fatter.

When, what to their wondering eyes should appear!?

But a line up of cars that they’ll be waiting in for years.

The border guard was friendly but spoke only few words.

Who are you , where ya going , his questions seem blurred.

But they heard him exclaim, as they drove out of sight,

HAPPY CROSSING TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!
